We don't know where the Summer went, but, it's definately coming to an end. Labor Day weekend is just a week away. Don't forget that our office will be closed on Monday, September 5. We will, however, be open on Saturday, September 3.

Labor Day weekend means The Logging Festival in Newaygo. People from all over the country come to compete in the logging events. Theres a parade, Arts and Craft Show, Bingo, Chicken Barbeque, Sidewalks Sales and activities for all ages. It promises to be a good time for everyone!

If you haven't already noticed it yet, Riverside Internet has added an RSS news feed from all of the local televison stations to our home page. Just click on the heading of your choice, such as WZZM 13 News, and a listing of all of the featured stories that appear on WZZM's web page will scroll out for you. Likewise with WZZM 13 Sports, Wood TV 8 News, Wood TV 8 Sports, Wood TV 8 Michigan Headlines, and WWMT 3 News. Then, of course, just click on the story of your choice to read it.

You already know that Riverside Internet has a great spam filter that blocks an average of 1500 message per week, per address. We have a tip on how to take the aggravation out of the spam messages that our filter doesn't get.

First, of course, you need to get online. Now, before you open your mail program, open your browser and point it to http://webmail.riverview.net or go to Riverside Internet's home page and click on the Check Email icon on the right side. That's right, its our Webmail system. It gives you a complete list of the messages that are on the mail server waiting for you. Just delete the messages that are spam right there using Webmail, and then immediately log out of Webmail. Now, when you open your email program all the messages that it downloads to you are legitimate email that you want to read.

If you use Webmail for an additional "spam filter" you won't spend a lot of time downloading messages that you're just going to delete anyway. This works particularly well if its been a few days or longer since you've checked your mail. When you're on dial-up, it really can be a great time saver.

Ever wonder how SBC, our "Local" (San Antonio, Texas) phone company, who is ALWAYS crying to the Public Service Commission that it can't possibly make a profit without a rate increase can buy things like IPTV for $4,000,000,000 (YES $4 BILLION)?
